Atelier Emmanuel was pleased to assist with the 2015 International Fashion Student Competition put on by The Arts of Fashion Foundation (AoFF).

The journey to this prestige event began last April, when 314 projects were submitted to the AoFF. These were narrowed down to the 44 designers who participated in the 2015 competition. The candidate pool was truly international, with designers hailing from China, Australia, Colombia, Israel among many other countries. Projects were selected based on creativity and concept.

On the night of the competition each was tasked with presenting two looks before the jury. An exhibition of their working process, with narrative and illustrations was presented. This was followed by a runway show presenting the final products. Atelier Emmanuel was recruited to style for the 24 models that they would be using. Consulting with Nathalie Doucet, President and Founder of AoFF, we chose to create contemporary variations of braids. These would complement well the wide array of haute couture fashions that would be on display.

Backstage

It took Emmanuel, Adrien, Charles, Indelisa and Peaches about 3 hours for the initial styling. Touchups were done between the jury selection and the public runway.

Public Runway

Futuristic, bold, innovative, the catwalk amazed us! With its vast hall the Bently Reserve was a perfect venue. The space allowed a runway that wrapped around the audience, allowing everyone an unimpeded view of the fashions. The show was punctuated by artistic performances by dancers from the San Francisco Ballet, and finished with the awards ceremony.
